Devotional Thoughts
By Aimee Hammack

May 2011

Everyone goes through things in this life that they cant quite understand. The trials and difficult circumstances can at times, be overwhelming and it just seems like they will never end. But we all know they do eventually come to an end and although they usually leave scars either visible, somewhere on our physical body, or invisible, in our hearts and mind. It is these tough times that allow us to see who our heavenly father truly is and how very capable He is of supplying our every need and being more than enough to help us through the trying times we all will face. Whether it is a battle you are facing with the outside world or a battle going on in your own mind, have peace and comfort knowing that this too shall pass. God promised that He would never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and He always stands on His word. I was feeling a bit spiritually low here recently and after having a very lengthy conversation with God about it I felt a very calming peace wash over me. I turned on the radio and a song was just beginning to play. That song was exactly what I needed to hear and He knew that. The song was written and performed by a woman named Heather Williams. The name of it is “Hallelujah” and she wrote this song after she suffered the loss of her infant son who had a heart condition. These words touched my heart and it wasn’t until I got home and looked up the song that I learned of the story behind it. Be encouraged today, not only do the storms come to pass, but that there is always sunshine following. God is a good and He loves His children very much. He doesn’t put us through difficult things to see us fall, but He does allow us to go through things so He can lift us up into His lap and comfort us and then when things get better He rejoices with us. We must trust Him! He is a faithful God. Our hope, comfort, provider, healer, strength, peace, strong tower, refuge, sustainer, the list goes on and on. He is more than enough!! And He will ALWAYS make a way when there seems to be none.

I wanted to share the lyrics to this song.

“Hallelujah” by Heather Williams
Jesus, please come, Please come today. Hear me, Heal me, be near me I pray. I have fallen so far, flat on my face, I’m in need of your grace today. I stumble and fall but in spite of it all, your love always stays the same. Hallelujah Jesus please come, please come today. Break me, mold me, use me I pray. Don’t give up on me now. I’m so close to you now. I’m in need of your grace today. Wipe the dirt off my face. Hold me in your embrace. Your love always saves the day. Hallelujah On my knees here I fall In spite of it all, and though it seems hard I’m still trusting you Lord.

Hallelujah I have fallen so far. Flat on my face, I’m in need of your grace today. Hallelujah Jesus, please come. Please come today.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe. Proverbs 18:10

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalm 28:7-9

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalms 18:2-4

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6-7
